![]() The main problem was I just don't get proper coverage on the first floor. That AP doesn't have to cover more space, and only 5G was needed there, so this took away interference. Disabled 2G for my garage which functions as office. I can't disable that, so it seems, but I'm investigating that right now. Once done (few months ago) it's connected to my unifi network so there's no need to broadcast its own wifi. I'm also seeing my solar converter in the attic providing a 2G wifi network that's only needed for initial setup. Went into settings and disabled public hotspot, that removed interference. I also saw things like a public hotspot that my internet provider was sending out, even though I disabled wifi on my modem. (and many more, due to interference from an heavy traffic area). It didn't give me immediate clear info on which specific Access Points I was seeing and connecting to, but it did list the AP's mac addresses, so I looked them up in the Unify Controller, renamed them properly in WifiMan and now I'm seeing exactly what makes sense to me. It allowd me to walk around and see what 2G and 5G signals I was receiving, while also showing my current connection. Ubiquiti's WifiMan app really helped me get insights the way I wanted. Here goes: Moving the APs isn't an option as I've got UTP end-points mounted in the ceiling, so the AP's are where they are and my original cable modem (on which I've disabled its own wifi) in the entry closet, so there's the spot for an in-wall AP. Being a bit of a noob on wifi optimization, perhaps my adventures may help someone too. So, I thought I'd write my progress here. = UPDATE =Thanks for all the advise! Man, if only I could have all of you wandering around my house, configuring the wifi properly -) I'm pretty much in the dark on what's the best approach for a Unifi specific setup with multiple AP's. So not to jump to conclusions, I wonder what's the best approach in this? Do you walk around with the laptop running the Unifi Controller? Use WifiMan app on mobile? Do I need to shut down some 2G or 5G signals? To I have to set fixed channels? I *think* this is due to roaming and still being connected to the farthest device, but it could be that a farther 2G signal is better received than a closer 5G signal? I'm just guessing here, and I'm somewhat of a noob. Some rooms still don't get proper coverage. I've got 2 NanoHD's (one on attic ceiling, one in garage attached to the house) and an in-wall AP in the entry hall (in the fuse box closet).
